I am a not-so-well
known conservative, although since college it has been said that I,
“make Ronald Reagan look like Jane Fonda,” which also shows that I’m
old enough to know better than to state my year of birth.
I have been the President of the Friendswood Republican Women
since 2005, when Madonna - the founding President, (not the singer),
ran off to Florida. I have been Chair of Galveston County Precinct
456 since 2006, so there’s not that much separating me and Chris
Mallios (since he’s Pct. 455-for-life).
I am an education addict. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics
and one in Computer Science, with a Master’s Degree in Computer
Science also. However, the best things I did in college were student
government and KUCI Radio, so the “Political Party” on Wednesday
nights is really my “dream gig.”
I have run for Friendswood School board 3 times and every time I
ran, I got twice as many votes as the previous election. I figure if
I run 4 more times everyone in town will have no choice but to vote
for me (so they don’t have to keep holding those pesky elections).
However, in the interest of saving money and my marriage, I’ve decided
to stop running and therefore, coming in second.
My very supportive husband, Pat, is the one who got me to leave
California for Texas. Our kids, Joe and Julie, join him in not being
too interested in politics. My family is however, encouraging in my
insatiable political interests and pursuits, which include involvement
in various Republican clubs and organizations including Bay Area
Republican Women, Clear Creek Republican Women, Galveston County Young
Republicans (ha ha, none of us are young anymore!), Galveston County
Republican Executive Committee, and Greater Houston Council of
Republican Women. I’m also trying to re-start the Republican club at
Friendswood High School. I have been involved in quite a few
political campaigns (with lots of success, as long as I’m not the
candidate!). Suffice it to say, politics is my main hobby.
I also have a paying job at GHG Corporation where I’ve worked
part-time for 15 years, for one of the best Democrats I know, by the
way. They lend me, part-time to United Space Alliance. This allows
me time for church, family, and politics hopefully, in that order.
